Capital City Builders was founded in 1984 by Rick Stratton

we specalize in residential construction, including renovations and additions.

License #453714 General Contractor

Rick went into the Air Force at 17 and became a mainteance plumber at Travis Air Force Base. When he was honorably discharged from the service Rick went back to work with his brother building room additions for a medium sized company "Choice Construction" .eventually the economy slowed and Rick formed a crew of carpenters and started subcontracting the foundation and framing of custom homes and room additions. This is when he became a general contractor at the age of 28 and the beginning of Capital City.

Capital City Builders went on to become the largest remodeling company in the Sacramento area. With up to 4 jobs at various stages each day, 8 full time carpenters and 20 full time subcontractors consisting of electricians, roofers, stucco contractors, drywall contractors, tile, masons, concrete finishers, cultured marble companies. Rick was the general contractor responsible for sales, design, drafting of plans, Pulling permits, scheduling workers and subcontractors, ordering materials, quality control, safety
control, payroll and insurance coverages. Rick worked alongside his employees doing the
plumbing, finish carpentry, tile and natural stone.

The 1990s recession brought an end to the growth of Capital City Builders, the room addition business never did recover and this is when the emphasis on kitchen and bathroom remodeling was started. Affected by each recession in the 1990's and 2008 the company eventually downsized to Rick and 1 faithful employee. They did all their own work on the few remodel projects available. All of the work was done by them including

concrete,framing,roofing,electrical,plumbing,drywall,tile,finish carpentry,and painting. Duri-ng this last great recession Capital City Builders started buying foreclosed properties, remodeling and reselling them. This continued untill 2014 when Capital City Builders Started to grow into what it is today.

*A note/rom Rick" One of the most efficient business models I particpated in was a crew in Santa Cruz county. it consisted of a General Contractor with employees, each specialized in one trade such as electrican, plumber ,drywall texture ect .. They would also assist each other with the contractor. Knowing each of their abilities and assigning them daily to work together according to the requirements of the jobs . "This is the business model of Capital City Builders. This eliminates the need for high subcontractor cost and the time waiting for a subcontractor to do his work. The home owner saves time and money".
